Stevengraph called “The Struggle” (STG159). The image is the same as “The Finish” (STG160) which superceded it soon after 1879 when the new title was considered more appropriate. Although not particularly hard to find, as ever the condition is everything, and this is nearly perfect. The silk is in excellent condition, as is the mount, and the colours are vibrant. It will go well with “The Start”. “The Struggle” and “The Water Jump” displayed as part of a set despite the latter being a steeplechase. The mount type is B, with credit under the picture, used from the close of the York Exhibition 31 October 1879 until 1886. In the Godden reference he has these mounts with the 7 title label with the Registration Mark. 204 mm x 135 mm.
