Lovely silk picture of a Badger executed by Cash’s. This company had long been a competitor and successor to the Stevens and Grant factories, and were well known in earlier days for their nametapes. The production process is exactly that of the Stevengraphs, on a modern Jacquard loom. The materials have changed over the years with the introduction of artificial silk substitutes such as rayon. This picture was one of a series of small productions, probaby used for promotional reasons, and other series were produced by Cash’s from the 1960s onwards. They compare well with Steven’s work, without ever really rivalling it, but the survival of the technique is a pleasure to see. This has been framed using modern framing materials to a high standard of conservation, and would look pleasing in any furnished environment. Framed size: 7″x6″.
