“A Bad Shot” by Kronheim, dated C1860. A local lad dressed in country smock has been warned off by an irate freeholder (according to the sign) for taking eggs. Not really sure what the presence of the hare is about, but we must assume the freeholder shot at the hare and hit the egg thief instead, hence the title. The poor lad might even not have stolen the eggs! Mounted in a simple cream mount with applied border line. Image size 4″ x 5 1/2″ and mount size 8″ x 9 1/2″. A really good quality example of Kronheim’s work and use of the Baxter printing process, as well as a bit of fun.
