Situation Périlleuse

“Situation Périlleuse” by Kronheim, dated C1860. One of the more amusing Kronheim images. It depicts a minstrel horse rider at a crossroads meeting inadvertently with a drover of a pig. Not really sure what the goose is doing but it doesn’t seem very well as it seems to be getting out of the way, and clearly the dog has taken exception to the whole event. Great detail with even the horse’s hoof flying of at the back. Unmounted. Image size 4″ x 5 1/2″. The colours are good in this example of Kronheim’s work and use of the Baxter printing process.
