The Family Portrait

“The Family Portrait” by Kronheim, dated C1860. An amusing grouping of a family having their portrait taken, probably for the first time. The camera is to the left with the plate about to be inserted, the grouping all squashed together in expectation. A surprising number of Kronheims have a dog in the picture, and there is one here. Great detail and social commentary as well as historical interest. Mounted in a simple cream mount with applied border line. Image size 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ and mount size 8″ x 9 1/2″. A really good quality example of Kronheim’s work and use of the Baxter printing process.
