Thomas Stevens Calendar 1938

A Thomas Stevens calendar of 1938. A colourful title to the top has the Stevengraph Works Coventry, Established 1854 notation below. To the left is the telephone number and Telegrams detail, and to the right the London office address. Bottom left and right is the calendar itself with an advertisement for Woven Labels to the centre. Bottom left is the name of Mr HM Swales and to the right the Manchester address. The image is of HM Queen Elizabeth and the title is below. Details of this extremely rare item are on page 257 of the Godden reference. This was the last Stevengraph to be made, and includes vignettes of Glamis Castle, Balmoral Castle, Holyrood House, and St Giles Cathedral. Not issued for sale they were presented to customers, and their very nature makes them a disposable item. Sometimes the silks may be found remounted after the calendar had been discarded. The pair is King George VI issued in 1937. A previous owner has copied the first card and mounted the King silk within it to make the pair (see pictures), but the silk is still rare See Godden page 266). Both are offered here, but realistically the Queen version holds the interest. It is in excellent condition with only two holes to the top where the calendar was hung.
