John Caldicott was born around 1812. He produced this fine scenic view of Coventry in 1858, as designed by R Barton. It is possible that he was the first producer of Stevengraph type silks. This image was only ever produced in black and white. The woven garlanded border incorporates
the elephant and castle Coat of Arms of Coventry. The three spires and empty Greyfriars Green, Coventry are the main items of the image, with the woven credit towards the bottom of this picture. There is no mount, the silk only being circulated This is a rare item indeed. Size 18.5 cms x 27 cms.
