“Netley Abbey” CL No 288 dated 1850. One of the many illustrations used in Suttaby’s Marshall’s Ladies Fashionable Repository of 1851, and Le Souvenir. Considerable detail about the Abbey is available in the Courtney Lewis references. When on a mount the picture is domed, as here, but it was extensively used for needle and handkerchief boxes as well as scrapbooks. Produced from 11 blocks it originally sold for 6d.
