“Hindoo & Mohamedan Buildings” CL No 5 dated 1835. The accreditations vary between this and the 1834 edition, and these can be seen in the detailed picture. It is within “Fisher’s Drawing Room Scrapbook” and two other volumes and shows the portico of a temple in Guzerat, so large that nearby residents ascribed its origin to a deity. Unlike earlier copies this one is in oils, and this particular copy is particularly fine in all regards. Bottom right “Engraved and Printed in oil colours by G Baxter, 3, Charter House Square”. The title is in French (left) and German (right), and English to the centre. Also “Eng by permission from Capt Grindlay’s work 8vo coloured”. Bottom centre “Fisher & Co London 1835. An outstanding example of Baxter’s early work.
