Lovely silk picture of a Cash’s Tawny Owl.This company had long been a competitor and successor to the Stevens and Grant factories, and were well known in earlier days for their name tapes. The production process is exactly that of Stevengraphs, on a modern Jacquard loom. The materials have changed over the years with the introduction of artificial silk substitutes such as rayon. This picture was one of a series of productions in the 1960s. They compare well with Steven’s work, without ever really rivaling it, but the survival of the technique is a pleasure to see. In its original frame with the Cash’s label au verso. Framed size: 7″ x 5 3/4″.
