Tunbridgeware Postage Box

A lovely little box with the tesserae title “Postage” on the top. It also has tesserae geometric decoration around the side of the box. Neat little boxes with the name of the item in tesserae can be attributed to TL Green in the period 1931-9, but without his distinctive corner design we would reckon on this being dated to the 1860s. It is more likely to be from the Hollamby era of Tunbridgeware makers. It is one of a number of similarly produced boxes of about the same dimensions but with different titles on the top.
