Plaisirs d’hiver

“Plaisirs d’hiver” by Kronheim, dated C1860. Again, in the rustic or country pursuits category of Kronheim images. It depicts two young ladies on the ice, one in a toboggan the other doing all the work. They are both extremely well dressed within the very barren landscape represented by the pollarded willow to the right rear. Baxter’s process leant itself very well to the winter scenes. A charming little piece that transcends time. Unmounted. Image size 3″ x 4 1/4″. The colours are good in this example of Kronheim’s work and use of the Baxter printing process.
