“Summer” by George Baxter, dated 1849. This small picture was used in Suttaby’s Marshall’s Ladies’ Elegant Pocket Souvenir of that year. It is from a painting by J Noble and is normally known as the “Small Summer” to distinguish it from the image after WE Jones. When with the Plate margin it has Baxter’s details and the original painting attribution.
