“The Good Old Days” (STG187) and “The Present Time” (STG 194) with the additional words “”……of Rattling Wheels and Gallant Greys” after the first title. Carter had a special relationship with Stevens, and was permitted to adorn Stevens’ work with his own credit, probably as an advertising medium for his own picture frame manufactory. Sometimes the mounts are pure gold in colour, and I have had examples, but this is the first time I have had this item. The Sprake Derby reference state the size of the mount to be 9 1/2″ wide, but this is 10 1/4″, so this was more likely to be the original size, theirs having been trimmed. It was never issued with a trade label as it was for advertising. It is a 6* rarity out of 7*. Note the Stevens credit bottom left. The mount is known as the B6 variant. Don’t miss this rare opportunity!
