“The Showman” (LB No 83 CL No 99) by Abraham Le Blond (1819-94). See Lycett/Martin reference book on page 27. Two signature version with Le Blond’s and Elliot’s details bottom right. A clean mount, and excellent colourings. A “peepshow” man offering his two dimensional images to be seen for 1 penny. Later these individuals set up Penny Gaffs at rural shows. It is not thought to have been copied from a painting, being an original Le Blond image.
