A “Stevengraph” silk picture by WH Grant (no 1011) called “Swallow Falls, Bettws-y-coed”, in postcard form. Grant produced many more postcard designs than Stevens, dating from about 1902, and, like all Grants, is often rarer than Steven’s work, and this is especially the case within the interesting yet little researched postcard area. Geoffrey Godden has completed quite substantial research in his book “Stevengraphs, & other Victorian Silk Pictures”. Framed size 8″ x 10″. In the Godden reference this is No 1011 on page 459. The wavy line art-nouveau border was used from 1904. Postcards were produced until 1941, then after the war the work resumed. Beautifully woven in image this is an uncommon subject. Very decorative and ready to display.
