Stevengraph of “Declaration of Independence” (STG 147). Woven into the silk is “Declaration of Independence July 4th 1776” with the title “Signing of the Declaration of Independence, July 4th 1776” on two lines on the mount below. Also “WOVEN IN SILK” directly below the image. This was first produced in 1893 at the Chicago Exhibition, and examples with additional lettering to this effect can be found. This is on an E mount which is in absolutely perfect condition, and the silk is outstanding. There is no Trade Label to the rear. The mount is 26.3 cms x 15.5 cms. In all cases this is a rare item as it was not so popular on the British market! It is 5* rarity in the Sprake reference.
