“Christmas Time” by Abraham Le Blond

“Christmas Time” CL No 261. This is a picture of a young lad visiting a suburban house to sell his holly. He is given a piece of cake and wine and looks very pleased at the prospect. This was a design for Christmas cards and is after a painting by Fitzgerald. Without the plate margin attribution it makes a decision between Baxter and Le Blond very difficult. The colours of the skin on hands and face are warm, but the sharper colour of the scarf suggests Le Blond. As there is little difference in production between either the Baxter or the Le Blond it is of little consequence. A very good copy. 4 1/2″ x 5 3/4″.
