The Third Day He Rose Again

“The Third Day He Rose Again” (CL No 238). This is by Le Blond, and is signed to the left hand side in the plate image. This is a copy of the Rubens painting. The Baxter is reckoned to be one of the best works he executed, and Le Blond’s copy not so good. Well, when Le Blond was at his best he often equalled Baxter’s work, and I think he has done so here. This is an excellent copy. 6 1/2″ x 8 1/4″. It includes all the registering holes that held the piece through the multiple passes for each colour block. It is interesting to note that CL has nothing negative to say about this Le Blond production.
