“The Saviour Blessing Bread” CL No 233 dated 1852. This and CL No 232 are very similar, the nimbus being absent in this version. This is probably the original design before the plate was altered and is the rarer of the two varieties. The Courtney Lewis reference has it at “Very Rare” when on a Mount, but “Rare” as per this edition. Probably from the picture by Carlo Dolci. The quality of this picture is outstanding, and as CL says the colouring “is excellent, refined and inspiring”. It was produced from 12 blocks. From the Bertrand Morgan collection.
