Four Fine Antique Fawcett Bird Prints.

Printed by Groombridge & Sons, London. 1850 in 6 volumes. 358 fine hand coloured bird plates. In November 1844, Rev FO Morris became vicar of Nafferton near Driffield in East Yorkshire, a parish he served for nine years. In 1854 he moved to the Rectory of Nunburnholme, near Market Weighton in East Yorkshire. Here he had ample leisure time to pursue his interests in natural history.Initially only a thousand copies were printed, but surprising demand quickly forced Fawcett to move to larger premises at East Lodge in Driffield. His books were financed and printed by Benjamin Fawcett of Driffield, a fine printer in the vanguard of early colour printing with George Baxter, and Abraham Le Blond. Here we have four prints at amost competitive price, ready for printing and being well displayed. The subjects are: “Black Throated Thrush”, “Velvet Scoter”, Bewick’s Swan” and “Mute Swan”.
