Fruit No 1 (after Lance) being CL No 273, dated 1856. This, and its companion print CL274 (Fruit No 2 after Lance) are a pair of the most colourful pictures produced by Baxter. It is especially pleasing to be able to offer the pair, and on Stamped Mounts too. Both show signs of some hand colouring, as to be expected. Le Blonds’ equivalent are flat in colour in comparison. Both are part of the “Flowers & Fruit” section in the CT Courtney Lewis reference. Baxter used a lithograph of this popular artists picture. Made up of 12 blocks and originally sold for 1s 6d. On mounts these images are deemed “very rare” by CT Courtney Lewis. 4 3/4″ x 6 1/4″ and the mount being 9 1/2″ x 7 3/8″.
