“Shakespeare’s Birthplace, Stratford-upon-Avon”, one of the less common images produced by the Tunbridge manufactories, and this block was produced by Hollamby in 1875 (see Austen “Tunbridgeware” page 245), and maybe passed to Boyce, Brown and Kemp (1891). The attribution of these cottages to Tenterden, Kent, by Younghusband (Austen page 247) is an interesting one, but overall the sympathy lies with the manufacturer and his description. Beautifully presented in a walnut frame and under glass, the frame size is 235mm x 200mm.
