A very pretty and unusual brooch in Tunbridge ware. Brooches are usually found in the bar configuration, so this style is indeed very rare. Just 52 mm across, set on an ebony disc, complete with brooch bar and clip to the rear. It is 5 mm deep. The pattern consists of a central star and then concentric geometric shapes of exotic wood panels. It is in lovely condition with natural wood and age markings. It would be unlikely we may see many more of these. Dating is very hard but based upon previous experience the era of 1850-60 would be a reasonable estimate.
