The Late Fred Archer (STG No 26) in unknown owner colours of primrose sleeves, silver grey body and cap. Sprake categorises this as a 6* rarity and explains the colours in a footnote.  Under the image is written “Woven in pure silk by T Stevens, Coventry”. The title is The Late Fred Archer printed below that. On the back we have the printed trade label which is interesting. It is predominantly 23+31a, of which there are a number of variants. This one varies considerably from the Godden reference as the top right listing is very different. It dates the piece to 1889. He was the first of the sports people portrayed by Stevens. The Archer signature is woven into the silk. 11.6 cms x 17 cms. The silk is in good condition, and the mount has some damage to the bottom left. A rare find.
