Baxter Print Returning from Prayer

This print, “Returning from Prayer” (CL No 340)  was produced 1 October 1855 and was one of those used as an illustration for music covers – Julien’s Album 1856 and Vespers by Lindahl. It is signed within the image bottom left with the appropriate Baxter details. It is said to be from a painting by Lee. This has some lovely rich colouring to it, and the dress and pose of the lady reminds me of an older CL No 219 Daughter of the Regiment – when she has matured and become a Colonel’s wife!! Signed bottom left and on a Stamped Mount. Unframed.
