This is a beautiful set of needlebox prints dated 1850, CL138 “The Hareem”. Normally paired with “The Greek Dance” set. When this set was cut the images were directed, by Baxter, to be called – 1. The Hareem Dance, 2. Ladies of the Hareem, 3. The Circassian Slave, 4. The Captive Slaves, 5.The Captured Prize. As Baxter collectors know, 5 individual prints also make up one complete picture too. The colours are quite excellent and this item is mounted upon an embossed paper, so was probably in an album. Popular with both Baxter and sewing item collectors. 4 7/8″ x 1 7/8″.
