This very pretty little box is much the same size as many of the stamp boxes in Tunbridgeware. It is 2 1/4″ x 1 1/4″ x 7/8″. The pattern to the top is probably the best known and earliest of designs, replicated by all the manufactories in the area. It is extremely effective at displaying vividly the many exotic woods used to create the perspective finish. This is a beautiful example with the added bonus of two decorative tesserae bands around the side of the box.
