Stevengraph “Peeping Tom” Used Postcard sc176

Peeping Tom postcard by Thomas Stevens. Listed by Godden (227) and Sprake (28), and allocated the number sc176 by Stevengraph Silks. There are a number of variations to this card, as annotated on the latter site. The first image shows not much of the wall, and the second much more of it as described. This copy matches the second variation with more of the wall showing, and below the embossing the “Woven in silk by T Stevens Coventry LTD”. On the front of the card is the handwritten “Coventry 5th May 1918”, and to the rear of this used card is some writing but no stamp. Whoever Syd was, he had been at home and it makes one wonder if it was from the Western Front as the First World War came to an end.
