Mauchline Ware Two Wood Pin Cushion Sold by “Anderson, Bookseller, Dunkeld”.

This beautiful pin cushion has been turned in two woods reminiscent of the Tunbridgeware stickware process. The picture of the inside clearly shows the wood layout before turning. The piece is modelled as a bucket and the original pin cushion covering is still evident. On the outside is the script, hard to read as it follows through the darker wood, of the poem by James Hogg (see Mauchlineware by Trachtenberg & Keith, page 259) and there is an attribution to the seller “Anderson, Bookseller, Dunkeld” (see Mauchlineware by Trachtenberg & Keith, page 108).
