Antique Steel and Brass Drafting Ruling/Drawing Tool

An antique steel and brass drafting ruling/drawing tool. Used primarily by architects and similar occupations executing technical drawing, often found in sets of drawing instruments. This desk accessory is dated to 1890-1920’s. There is a little tarnish to the stainless steel tips. Overall 6″ long, the handle is of bone with a turned knop leading to a brass patterned section that holds the adjustable turn wheel. Below that is the stainless steel. Ruling pens are vintage drawing instruments for drawing with ink or with other drawing fluids held between the adjustable arms. Precision drawing can then be achieved, the line width being adjustable. Todays uses can include picture framing (mount decoration) or calligraphy.
