Coloured Silhouette by J Foster signed

Here we have an excellent opportunity to acquire a silhouette featured in the McKechnie reference. On page 308 item 408 we have the detail of this Foster silhouette. It is of an unknown mother and child, a cut silhouette, painted in part in colour with a painted background. It is dated to about 1855 and has the trade label au verso as pictured. The entry in the McKechnie reference for Foster is predicated upon two silhouettes of which this is one that is illustrated. There is considerable detail on Foster on page 215/6 which I would be pleased to copy to the purchaser. The frame mentioned in the reference is also available, but as it did not fit the picture at all it is now safely reframed within a walnut frame with a barrier board to the rear.
