Fashion Print c1900

A single hand coloured print by Harbour with the subject: Period Directoire “A Walk Down the Mall”. Produced by Raphael Tuck & Sons Ltd London it is a “hand printed facsimile” (as stated on bottom left, reproduced from earlier images, and the plate mark is clearly visible. Review of the process indicates it to be tone photogravure, and its resemblance to the aquatint makes it a “aquatint photogravure”, and it can be dated to 1870 through to the turn of the century. There is an embossed stamp bottom left of image within the plate mark. The original Fine Art Trade Guild label is on the original wood backing. The framers, F Casson of 20 Bond Street, Hull, were active for a very short time (1905-15). Currently unframed with the original labelled back board.
